Shadetree Lawn Service suggest scalping Bermuda and Zoysia lawns annually in Spring only during mid-March-April. Scalping removes dormant, brown turf and promotes earlier green-up. The scalping process uses a mower on a low setting and requires catching of all clippings.

The reproduction rate for grass slows down after four-five years. Overseeding will ensure your lawn stays thick and dense which means less weeds. Core aeration is one of the most important ways to keep your lawn healthy. This procedure can be done annually in the Spring, late Summer or Fall. Core aeration uses a heavy machine that removes plugs of soil allowing it to "breathe" and also reducing thatch. In addition, nutrients and water are more able to reach the roots.
